Toronto: G.M. Rose & Sons, n.d. [1889]. Thick squarish octavo, grey pictorial cloth stamped in black, blue & gilt. Spine imprint reads "TORONTO/ THE G.M. ROSE & SONS CO./ LIMITED". (xvi), 17-575 pp. Cheap paper a bit tanned, with yellowing to page edges; spine very slightly darkened with a touch of rubbing to ends; ink owner name at front; VG+ overall. BAL 3429 note. McBride p. 129 . For once the Canadian edition was not a piracy. Issued under contract with Twain, made from US plates, and in a binding similar to that of the US edition, with the cover title shortened to A YANKEE IN KING ARTHUR'S COURT. It was registered for copyright 11 Dec., 1889. The US edition was deposited 5 Dec., 1889. This is the correct first Canadian edition. Copies with the Rose Publishing Company imprint, also undated, are from 1890. Note: 2 kg parcel, extra shipping may be required.
