Spine and margins of covers a bit sunned; small light spots to gutter of front cover; bookplate to front pastedown; light darkening to inner margins of endpapers; else a VG clean, tight and unworn copy. Dust jacket has creased tears to upper edge of rear panel; small chips to outer corners; shallow chips to spine tips (no lettering affected); light soiling to rear panel; light rubbing to spine; overall generally VG and still attractive in appearance, flap price intact. The Hogarth Press edition was also published in 1934. This novel is "the drama of a strange triangle, Shirin le Breton, beautiful, elusive and strangely honest, Venn, her husband, goaded to sadistic outbursts in his efforts to possess her spirit, and the storm-swept island of Storn which they both loved more than any human." - jacket flap. This jacket is a variant, perhaps second state, with background in black. Also comes with a navy blue background.
