First published in The New Adelphi in 1927, and in book form as a Christmas greetings give-away by Harper & Bros., NY, in 1928. Laid in is a printed slip "With the Compliments of Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc., Garden City, New York" The publisher's name has been struck through with a typewriter and typed beneath is "Mr. F.N. Doubleday". The jacket flap indicates that 500 copies were for sale (at 6s.) , and it seems likely to me that his is one of the 25 hors commerce copies.
