ILLUSION: 1915 (signed, limited ed.)
Edition: First UK printing
London: Heinemann, 1929. #2 of 525 copies SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. Brown cloth spine and batik boards, fore and bottom page edges untrimmed. [6], 34, [4, blank] pp. A fine copy. The dark brown on cream non-pictorial dust jacket is slightly dust soiled and tanned, two small edge nicks, mainly fine otherwise, no chips or clips. First published in The New Adelphi in 1927, and in book form as a Christmas greetings give-away by Harper & Bros., NY, in 1928. Laid in is a printed slip "With the Compliments of Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc., Garden City, New York" The publisher's name has been struck through with a typewriter and typed beneath is "Mr. F.N. Doubleday". The jacket flap indicates that 500 copies were for sale (at 6s.) , and it seems likely to me that his is one of the 25 hors commerce copies. A World War I story by the noted English novelist who served as an officer during the Great War. Note: lighter parcel, any default postage rate may be reduced.; Signed by Author
