DICK WILLOUGHBY

Edition: First US printing

New York: Random House, 1938. The poet's FIRST NOVEL, a tale for boys set in Elizabethan England, previously published in the UK in 1933. Octavo, green cloth stamped in black, red top page edges. Three line rubber stamp to front pastedown and four digit number to rear pastedown, the front stamp mostly hidden by jacket flap, the rear stamp entirely so. Jacket has minor rubbing to only faintly yellowed spine, nick to rear panel and front flap, else fine and bright, flap price intact, a very nice copy indeed, scarce in this condition. A yarn set in Elizabethan times. Young orphan Dick goes to sea, has adventures in the Spanish West Indies, and returns home to do a good dead.
