No. 31 in the publisher's Vigo Cabinet Series, with ads for the first 54 titles inside the bound-in paper covers. The three page Memoir is by Clement Shorter. This hardcover issue is a presumed later issue publisher's binding, perhaps from around 1912, when the publishers issued a new selection. See Colbeck Collection I, p. 432. A posthumous selection from the poetry of this Irish poet and man of letters whose work was admired by his friend W.B. Yeats, who writes about Johnson and his early death by drink in AUTOBIOGRAPHIES. Johnson was a convert to Catholicism, a repressed homosexual, and the one who introduced his cousin Lord Alfred Douglas to his friend Oscar Wilde. A volume in the publisher's Vigo Cabinet Series, the front cover is numbered XXXI but the ads list it as number 34. Introductory memoir by Clement Shorter.
