Foot of spine has mild wear, short cloth split to bottom of front gutter; very shallow bruise to lower edges of boards; slight yellowing to endpapers and page edges; VG clean & tight copy otherwise, no owner names. Pink dust jacket has a fingernail-size chip at foot of lightly darkened spine, with loss of most of publisher's imprint; rubbing at head of spine with loss of some letters of the title; short tears to panels; generally VG otherwise. Probably a copy for review, as lightly in pencil on front free endpaper is "Sep 30 3/6". Tragic New Zealand poet, novelist, journalist, socialist, feminist - and pauper. She was a suicide (o/d on benzedrine, an opiate user since a knee operation at age 18). A scarce book.; Small octavo
