Story of five supposed Chippendale chairs sold by Sotheby's, London, 1974, for a then record $207,500, but subsequently withdrawn and shipped to Sotheby's Parke Bernet in New York when it was discovered that they were actually American in origin. They were then attributed to Philadelphia furniture maker Benjamin Randolph. The author, a Connecticut antiques dealer, gives evidence for them being the work of C. Hanlon.; Octavo 0876633173
