Long Jan., 1933, ink ownership inscription on front free endpaper, else a fine copy. Dust jacket (colourful front panel art by Skrenda) has small chips and rubbing to tips of slightly tanned spine; rubbing and small holes to spine folds; nicks to edges of panels; front flap fold has a short tear and some rubbing; pencil drawing of palms covers the rear pastedown; else a VG copy, the front panel showing well. This was MGM's first sound picture, and the first to use the famous lion logo. "A record of one happy year spent by the author among the simple friendly cannibals of Atuona valley, in those marvelous islands, the Marquesas."
