Thick quarto, 29 cm, quarter bound in original green cloth and sheep spine. top edge gilt, otherwise rough trimmed (laid paper). pp (xxviii), 468 + frontispiece and 8 other lithographed plates on a cream ground, all with tissue guards; indexed. Some rubbing to the joints, lightly to the face of the spine; yellowing to page edges; rubber stamped place name inside front cover; 1883 ink gift inscription at top margin of title page; light pencil notes at rear; else a fine, tight and unworn copy, hinges not cracked. Contains an Appendix containing extracts from an old rental-book of Edzell and Lethnot, notices of the ravages of the Marquis of Montrose in Forfarshire, and other interesting documents.
