Québec: chez Neilson & Cowan, imprimeurs-libraires, 1825. Second edition, revised and enlarged (first was in 1801). 12mo, 17.5 cm. pp (vi), 396, (6, index). Music in plainsong notation, text of the songs in Latin, text of prelims and index in French. Bound in contemporary (original?) calf, maroon morocco title piece on spine. Spine has chips at tips, repaired tears; cracked joints and hinges repaired (a bit tight in the binding); no front free endpaper; title page has some damp stains, with a short closed tear at top neatly repaired; thumb-size chip to lower outer corner of pp 131-32, with loss of a few words, small hole at bottom margin of same leaf with loss of a few letters; smaller chip to outer margin of following leaf (no word loss); some yellowing, browing and foxing in text; corner creases to late leaves; else a good copy sound if stiff in the binding, and, but for a few letters on one leaf, complete. Ink inscription on front pastedown "Fabrique de St Pierre Isle d'orleans 1840". Page 196 is numbered 96. Variant without the leaf after p. 396 headed "Antienne à la Vierge" and "Hymne à la Ste. Vierge". The 1801 edition was the second book with musical notation to be printed in Canada. This 1825 edition not in Gagnon nor Dionne. Scarce.
