Illustrated half-title bears the London: Nathaniel Cooke, imprint. Spine very lightly sunned, with short cloth tears at top of joints neatly repaired; scattered minor foxing in text; smallish damp spot on rear cover; outer corners softly bumped; corner crease in the ads; else a near fine copy, no owner names, inner hinges not cracked. A very successful microscope classic, it was in its 15th edition in 1898.
