THE CROOKED MILE
Edition: First printing
New York: Minton, Balch, 1924. The future historian, novelist, and critic's FIRST BOOK, a novel set in the Rocky Mountains. Red cloth lettered in black, top edge red. Top edge faded to pink; just a touch of rubbing to foot of spine; small damp stain to front pastedown (under flap); fine otherwise. Jacket is worn, with large chips to spine tips with some loss of lettering, smaller chips elsewhere. Placed over the jacket is a copy of the third printing jacket (which is identical but for the words "Third Printing" at top of front flap), which much improves the appearance as that jacket has only tiny rubbed spots to spine tips; small chips to inner corners of rear panel; flap folds rubbed; short tear to front panel; otherwise VG. With ink inscription on front pastedown from one of the author's Michigan cousins, and with full page pencil inscription on front fly leaf from one Michigan cousin who has presented the book to his female cousin, and who writes about the author and the book.
