THE BEAUTIES OF BURKE. Choice selections from his works

New York: Leavitt & Allen, 1856. Small, palm-size book, page height 10.8 cm. Original brown cloth elaborately decorated in gilt, all edges gilt. pp 160, [2]. Some foxing, mainly early and late; bit of rubbing to gilt on rear cover; else a fine copy, no owner names. Burke, the great 18th century Irish-British statesman and orator, supporter of the American Revolution, opponent of the French Revolution, is often credited with being the philosophical founder of modern conservative political thought. Would make a nice little gift for a right-leaning friend.
