About 2/3 of the book is a transcription of Mylne's diary 1762-1810. Robert Mylne, of the distinguished family of Scottish master masons and architects, "was for many years the surveyor of St. Paul's Cathedral and Chief Engineer to the New River Company. His works included Blackfriars Bridge and The Wick, the elegant villa on Richmond Hill."
