Bound in contemporary half calf and grey boards, mint greenendpapers, spine with 5 raised bands, two labels, gilt ornaments. Spine lacks top inch; wear to outer corners; leather chip to upper inner corner of front cover and tape skinning to upper inner rear cover; browning in corners of endpapers from binding materials; light 1822 ownership signature; wear to fore edge of front cover; in all, only good externally, but internally quite clean, tight, unworn. Croly, an Irish Rector who settled in London, wrote poems, dramas, satires, novels, history, hymn lyrics, and theological works, with some success in their day. He was a frequentcontributor to "Blackwood's Magazine". NCBEL 375.
