Sir Patrick Manson (1844-1922), a Scottish physician, is known as the father of tropical medicine. He was the one who proposed the link between mosquitos and malaria. He practiced in Hong Kong for many years, where he founded the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese, which later became the University of Hong Kong.
