Edition: First US printing
New York: Harper, 1927. Yellow-green cloth, top edges red, spine elaborately decorated in gilt, pale blue-grey endpaper illustrations. Top edges sunned to pink, very nearly fine otherwise. Jacket has small chips to spine ends and outer corners, two inch tear to upper front panel, but nothing of importance lacking; 2.50 flap price partially rubbed out; two inch split to upper spine fold; VG otherwise, attractive in appearance. The Norwegian-American author's best-known book, a story of Norwegian immigrants in Minnesota and North Dakota, as classic of American regional fiction. The book akso comes with plain endpapers (I have seen a copy with a 23 Nov., 1927, ownership inscription.) The US edition adds a new author introduction.
