THE MOON IS DOWN
Edition: First printing
New York: Viking, 1942. Blue cloth stamped in silver. Yellowing to page edges, light rubbing to upper and lower edges, Connecticut new bookseller's ticket on rear pastedown; else fine, no owner names. Dust jacket has some rubbing to folds, spine slightly yellowed, rubbing and short fold tears to spine ends; VG otherwise. This is a correct first printing, with no printer named and the period on p. 112. According to G&P A16a, it should have blue top page edges. This copy appears to have never been blue there, though it is possible it once did and the colour has completely faded away, which I doubt. The G&P entry for this title needs some revision on several points. Second issue copies (i.e., for the Book-of-the-Month Club, I believe, despite having a flap price) are very common and often thought to be the real thing.
