THE RED HEART (with authorial changes)
Edition: First printing
Toronto: McClelland & Stewart, 1949. Cloth and decorated boards. Slight flaking to gilt spine lettering; corner creases to a few leaves; some pencil changes in text, mostly crossing out or underlining whole sentences, but a few with some new words inserted, VG otherwise. Thin jacket a bit yellowed, with small chips and tears; spine browned, rubbed, damp spots, small holes, chips at ends; in all just good. The third book in the distinguished Indian File series, author's first book, a winner of the Governor-General's Award for Poetry, and an uncommon book by the noted Canadian poet and playwright. Edition of 400 copies. I feel fairly certain that the text changes were made by the author himself. They look like his hand, and given the nature of the changes, including the addition of new words, I can't think who else would have done it.
