THE UNREASONING HEART
Edition: First printing
New York: Dodd, Mead, 1946. Inscribed by Author; Red cloth. pp (4), 236, yellow top page edges. Some inevitable endpaper tanning; tape and glue stains on front free endpaper; spine gilt a mite dulled; yellowing to page edges; else a VG+ copy. Dust jacket has small chips to spine ends and to outer corners; slight rubbing to spine ends and flap folds; short edge tears; slight darkening to spine and rear panel; VG otherwise, still respectable in appearance. INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR on a greeting card once pasted in "Montreal, 1953. Dear Mrs [Kay] Brook, A belated but most sincere thank-you for your note at Christmas. I'm very grateful for the information and for your interest. My best wishes to you and your husband for a happy and prosperous New Year. C. Beresforde-Howe". Author's first book, published at age 24, just after graduation from McGill, the novel was a winner of the Dodd, Mead Intercollegiate Literary Fellowship. A novel of Montreal, now uncommon and scarce in jacket, it was reprinted in paperback in 1978. The author, who published 10 novels, is best known for THE BOOK OF EVE. ; Signed by Author
