New York: Kirk & Mercein, 1817. 12mo, pp 301, xvi, Appendix, [2] + engraved frontispiece. Ex library. Rebound in modern black cloth, recently rebacked in black cloth with paper label. Bookplate of the American Library of Natural History (marked Cancelled) inside front cover, gift of Ogden Mills; front free endpaper has a neatly repaired tear and small library rubber stamp; rubber stamp on blank verso of the frontispiece of the Lyceum of Natural History N.Y.; title page page has Lyceum rubber stamp in middle and Academy rubber stamp in fore margin, ink presentation at head of spine from a Van Rensselaer; small rubber stamp and ink notations on verso of title page; not very noticable blind stamp to title leaf; small rubber stamp and clean pouch inside front cover; title leaf trimmed with loss of part of the inscription and the Academy rubber stamp; joints a bit stiff. In all, a good copy, text has a bit of foxing in places but is unworn and mostly very clean, and with the frontispiece, which is usually lacking. Gagnon I 3150. Sabin 76706. Dionne II 965. Lande 775, TPL 1127, Vlach 666 (not calling for frontispiece). Sansom travelled as far west as Niagara.
