DANCE OF THE HAPPY SHADES: Stories. Foreword by Hugh Garner
Edition: First printing
Toronto: Ryerson, 1968. Octavo, light green cloth. Light yellowing to page edges; very small and tidy ink name at top of front free endpaper, else fine. The dust jacket has light sunning to the dark pink portion of the spine; soft creases at spine ends; front panel has a shallow circular indentation to centre, about 1 cm in diameter, a soft vertical crease to inner margin, and a faint circular indentation to lower outer corner, probably where the G-G sticker fell off, but no skinning nor glue residue; the jacket is otherwise fine. A nice copy. The recent Nobel Laureate's FIRST BOOK, arguably the most important book in the history of Canadian literature, launching as it did the career of one of the world's greatest living short story writers. A collection of 15 short stories, all winners. It won a Governor-General's Award, the first of three such. Munro won the 2013 Nobel Prize for Literature, well deserved.
