CANADA MADE ME
Edition: First printing
London: Putnam, 1958. First state, with the offending sentence on page 20. Black cloth, spine silver lettered, blue-grey top page edges. Variant binding, of two noted. 277, [3] pp. Light yellowing to fore and bottom page edges, faint damp spots near centre of front cover (scarcely noticeable), else a fine, jacketless copy. The book was published 3 Nov., 1958, in an edition of 3K copies. No Canadian publisher wanted it, and only 500 copies were shipped to Canada for distribution by McClelland & Stewart (and probably all price-clipped by M&S). Canadian publishers were uninterested in the book, of course, because of Levine's many unflattering comments about the country based on his travels throughout his native land upon his return from England. ; Octavo
