Number 1 in the publisher' s Fireside Library series. A later printing. First was in 1856. Contains The Copper-Mine, The Snow King, The Iron King, The Fall of the Hats and Caps, Perserverance, The Three Pictures, Ragnar Lodbrok, Hakon the Good, The Story of Queen Astrid, King Olave, and Harald Hardrade. Folk tales and historical sketches for younger readers. "Perserverance" is about Carl Linnaeus. Translator not indicated in book nor in library records.
