Spine a bit worn and ends, two cloth split at top of front hinge; ink owner inscription at front and small two digit ink number in corner of a few early leaves; else a VG clean and tight copy. First published Copenhagen, 1913, as Tre Aar i Nordøstgrønland, and in London in 1913 as Lost in the Arctic, being the story of the "Alabama" Expedition, 1909-12. AB 11418. Mikkelson was a Danish arctic explorer who became stranded on Shannon Island in Northeastern Greeland with his chief engineer Iversen. They spent two winters in a small cottage they built from scrap until they were rescued by a whaler in 1912. This German edition added illustrations and an index.
