Front free endpaper has an ink ownership inscription, a later ink name, and mostly erased pencil marks; yellowing to page edges; else a VG tight and unworn jacketless copy. A sequel to his novel WAR, which was one of the most important WWI novels from the German point of view. The uncredited translation by Willa and Edwin Muir differs from that of the 1931 UK edition. Concerns the period in Germany just after the war: Prison Camp, Break-Up of the Old Army, The Army of Security, The Socialization, With the Security Police During the Lapp Putsch.
