LATER POEMS. With an Appreciation by R.H. Hathaway
Edition: First edition.
Toronto: McClelland & Stewart, 1921. xxix, 203 pp + frontispiece portrait with tissue guard. Blue-grey cloth boards with illustration of trilliums and pinecones in green, bright gilt stamped titles to cover and spine, endpapers illustrated with green garland-framed poetry. Yellowing to page edges, else fine. Cream dust jacket has partial splits to flap folds; light soiling to panels; spine lightly darkened, with splits to spine folds internally repaired with brown paper tape; in all, just a good example, but still respectable in appearance. Inscribed on front blank: "To Maud Hathaway with all good wishes from R.H. Hathaway, Christmas 1921".Printed label on the half-title states "Ernest J. Hathaway. Presented by Maud (Snarr) Hathaway". Very attractive cover, jacket, and endpaper illustration by J.E.H. MacDonald, with some lettering by Thoreau MacDonald. Edison E1. I presume this copy was Hathaway's gift to his wife. BAL 2731.
