A novel about a barnacle goose from the Scottish island of Barra blown across the ocean to the James Bay area of northern Canada, where it somehow finds a mate. A young naturalist and a young Cree women become involved, with the goose and each other. The novel was originally to be called THE STRANGE ONE OF BARRA but there was a last minute title change.
