Old rebacking in leather; spine chipped at ends; boards worn at edges, corners rounded; inner hinges neatly repaired; front free endpaper renewed with period paper; ink gift inscription on verso of title leaf; ripples and oval blind impression to text body throughout (appears to be a result of original printing process). In all, just fair externally, though now tight in the binding; text VG, clean and unworn. Sabin 13871. Mostly written while Cobbett was living on Long Island. Styled "Stereotype Edition" on the title page but in fact the correct first.
