Books a little leaned; spines darkened with lettering faint, and with small chips at ends and vertical cracks, now neatly repaired; ink owner name in top margin of each front cover; covers have short shallow chips to fore edges and corner creases; page edges tanned; generally VG otherwise, now tight in the bindings, text clean and unworn. Macmillan's Colonial Library # 317 & 318. This paper issue of the Colonial Library edition drops the plates and maps found in the larger Constable and Harper editions of 1897, though at least some of the more common hardcover issue came with a folding map.
