There was no UK trade edition at publication. This edition also came in two other binding styles. The last great work of this Danish artist who was one of the very best working in the golden age of English and American children's book illustration, as well being one of the most handsome of all editions of these classic fairy tales. Besides the title story, contains The Six Swans; Little Brother and Little Sister; The Fisherman and his Wife; The Drummer; Rosebud; The Spindle, the Shuttle, and the Needle; Snowdrop; Jorinde and Joringel; The Goose Girl; Clever Alice; Cherry, or the Frog Bride; The Three Little Men in the World; The Valiant Little Tailor; and Roland. Small bump to lower outer corner of front cover with consequent soft corner crease to first few leaves; one inch tear to lower edge of the tissue guard of the frontispiece, else a fine, unsoiled, bright copy, no owner names, of an edition which quite often shows cover soiling (white cloth), of a lovely book.
