With deep appreciation, Yousef Karsh, May 31, 1969". Karsh, a refugee from the Armenian genocide, arrived in Canada 31 Dec., 1923. He immediately moved to Sherbrook, Quebec, to live with maternal uncle, also a portrait photographer, who employed him and taught him the craft. Bishop's university is located in Lennoxville, a suburb of Sherbrooke. Karsh was awarded a Doctor of Civil Law by Bishop's.
