The "Canadian James Bond", also unusual in that it is told from the viewpoint of the French-Canadian heroine Vivienne Michel (the name of the wife of one of Fleming's golfing partners). Though none of the book is set in Canada (most of the Bond action takes place in upstate New York near the Canadian border), the heroine talks a fair bit about being a Quebecoise, describing her difficulties and isolation in an English boarding school and then in America, also commenting on French-Canadian nationalism. ; Octavo
