Jacket has one short corner tear, some quite minor rubbing, else fine.The novel was based on Charled De Gaulle's visit to Québec in 1967 during which he shouted to a crowd "Vive le Québec Libre !", fanning the separatist flames. The family of Québec politician Daniel Johnson took legal advice and informed the publisher that he had been libeled, so the book was taken off bookstore shelves and the offending passages were changed with cancel leaves.
