Spine an margins of front cover lightly sunned; just a little leaned; soft crease to upper outer corner of front cover and a number of leaves; page edges lightly yellowed; else a near fine copy. The edition was also issued in cloth. The UK and US editions were also published in 1899, though the UK edition had no illustrations. This Canadian issue was made from US sheets. It is not in Stewart (though he regularly recorded Canadian editions). This paper issue is scarce today and very scarce indeed in this condition. A collection of nine stories and one poem about schoolboy life in the United Services College, much of the book based on Kipling's own experiences.
