"Near six foot tall, lithe and powerful, November Joe is a Canadian woodsman who would sooner hunt deer than man any day. In these stories of detection, set in the wilderness far away from city streets, November Joe shows that he is not only the product but also the master of his environment. The author was a sportsman and naturalist who spent much of his life traveling and hunting, and used his own experiences and wilderness lore as background for this book. First published before the outbreak of World War One (during which Prichard organized a corps of sharp-shooters), these stories capture the clear, crisp outdoor atmosphere of the North-American backwoods." - from the Greehill Books 1985 reprint.; Octavo.
