Second edition, but the first US issue, preceded by the very scarce three volume edition published a couple months earlier in 1886. There were 5K copies divided between the UK and US markets, with 3K for America. This US issue preceded the UK issue by nearly two months. BAL 10576. Supino 28.6.0, binding state B, which BAL calls the first binding. E&L A28b.
