London: Dent, 1939. Fourth issue binding of mauve cloth lettered in black, plain top edges, frontispiece portrait by Augustus John. Page edges tanned; small soft corner bump to rear and front cover and two short shallow bruises to lower edge of front cover; spine faintly darkened; just a little leaned; VG+ otherwise, binding clean and bright. Dust jacket has chips to ends of bit darkened spine (no lettering lost); small chips to outer corners; front flap has price clip and a narrow dark streak to inner margin; small soil spot to rear cover; splits to spine folds neatly repaired internally with archival clear paper tape; VG otherwise, still presentable in appearance. Issued in a total edition of 2000 copies in one printing, only 1000 were bound for the first issue, the remaining 1000 sets of sheets being bound up in different cloth in small batches (four issues of the first printing in all). This fourth issue (500 copies) was bound between Dec. 1948 and Feb. 1949. APG calls for plum cloth lettered in blue, but to this eye the cloth is mauve and the lettering is black. A collection of 16 poems and seven short stories. The poet's third book, first to contain any prose.; Octavo
