"Wigtime" holograph ms page (Friend of My Youth)
8.5 x 11 inch lined sheet torn from a spiral bound notebook. Ragged at the left margiin. Written in blue ink, the page full, dense, all holograph, heavy with text changes. Headed "from 'Wigtime' Alice Munro". On verso "Keath - Is this OK? It's from 'Wigtime' a story in my new book (Mar /90) Alice Munro". The page begins "a sense of the importance of her life. She had a quite unfamiliar feeling" [words inserted above, 'a sense' crossed out]. "Wigtime" is the last story in FRIEND OF MY YOUTH. The piece was donated some years ago to a P.E.N. fundraiser in Vancouver and I am selling it for the winning bidder. Holograph letters - let alone pages of manuscript - by the 2013 Nobel laureate are rarely encountered in the marketplace anywhere.
