The 2013 Nobel Laureate's second book, it was the Canadian Booksellers Association / International Book Year winner for 1971-72. It calls itself a novel, but is really a collection of linked stories. The inscribee was Edmonton poet, critic, and translator E.D. Blodgett (1935-2018), who won a Goveror-General's Award in 1996 for his poetry collection APOSTROPHES: WOMAN AT A PIANO. He also wrote ALICE MUNRO (1988), a major critical study in the Twayne's World Author Series (# 800), which project accounts for them becoming personal friends. This copy was bought direct from Blodgett's widow. Excellent personal inscription, great book.; Signed by Author 0070929327
