Dust jacket has a short tear to front panel; rubbing to spine and flap folds; quite shallow chip across foot of spine; orange portions of spine faded to yellow; soiling to rear panel; VG otherwise, flap price intact. A scarce edition from this minor, short-lived British publisher, especially scarce in jacket. The 1941 Toronto edition won the Governor-General's Award for Fiction (Sinclair Ross' AS FOR ME IN MY HOUSE, a CanLit classic, didn't win for 1941).
