THREE CAME TO VILLE MARIE by SULLIVAN, Alan

THREE CAME TO VILLE MARIE

Edition: First UK printing

London: Francis Aldor, 1947. Blue cloth, spine stamped in gilt. pp 318. Yellowing and minor foxing to page edges; some yellowing and minor foxing to endpapers; else a fine, bright copy, no owner names, in thin, almost flexible postwar boards. Dust jacket has a short tear to front panel; rubbing to spine and flap folds; quite shallow chip across foot of spine; orange portions of spine faded to yellow; soiling to rear panel; VG otherwise, flap price intact. A scarce edition from this minor, short-lived British publisher, especially scarce in jacket. The 1941 Toronto edition won the Governor-General's Award for Fiction (Sinclair Ross' AS FOR ME IN MY HOUSE, a CanLit classic, didn't win for 1941). Front panel has an orange circular printed seal for the award. An historical novel of the founding of Montreal and New France.
