Green cloth, endpaper maps. pp (x), 243,  + plates; 3 small maps in text and end, Index. Spine a bit darkened with two dark spots, small ink gift inscription at front, VG clean and unworn jacketless copy otherwise. Newspaper clippings laid in. A book from the days when an ascent of Everest was fraught with peril (it was not successfully surmounted until 1953). The 1936 British expedition was a complete flop. These days you have to get in the queue to go to the top.
