THE KING OF THE PARK
New York: Crowell, c1897. Fourth thousand, ca.1899. Green decorated cloth stamped in black, gilt lettered. pp (6), 226 + 7 plates (of 8?). No tissue guard at frontispiece. Yellowing to page edges, March, 1899, pencil ownership inscription at front, else a fine, bright, lovely copy. A cat story set in Boston. A copy of the fifth thousand I have examined has a tissue guard at the frontispiece and has 8 plates (a plate at p. 70). I see no visible evidence that there ever was a plate there. The book does not have a list of plates. ; Octavo
