THE HISTORY OF MR. POLLY
Edition: First printing
London: Thomas Nelson, 1910. Green cloth, spine with white panel and gilt lettering and rules, green illustrated endpapers, colour frontispiece. pp 374, (10, ads). Lightly darkened spine has a soft ridge near centre and slight chipping to the delicate white enamel panel along top and one place at bottom, only a small part of one letter affected - much less chipping than usual; else VG clean and bright, unworn, no owner names, a very decent copy. A humourous tale of a haberdasher's apprentice, Wells' own favourite of his novels - and possibly his best. The so-called first issue with the advertisement for John Masefield's "Trepanned" (never published). Korn collection 321 does not mention the point. ; Octavo
