Black cloth gilt lettered with vertical red band to front and rear cover. pp (8) (136) + engraved frontispiece portrait with tissue guard and one other portrait with tissue guard. Bubbling to cloth in outer margin of rear cover and faded spot to lower margin; small light spots and some fading to front cover; offset browning to free endpapers; foxing to pages adjacent to the frontispiece and the tissue guard and in a few places in the text; else a VG clean and unworn copy. Edgar Wallace contributes three pages to the Reminiscenes section. Major-General the Hon. Arthur Henry Henniker-Major CB (3 April 1855 – 6 February 1912) was a British Army officer. He died from the effects of a kick by a horse. He saw action in the Second Boer War. Florence Henniker, his wife, published novels and short stories and collaborated with Thomas Hardy, her long-time friend. An uncommon book.; Octavo
