Spine a bit darkened, small ink name at front; slight tanning to endpapers and page edges; cracked inner hinges neatly repaired; covers just a little bowed; else a clean and unworn copy. Published anonymously, it was well-received but sold slowly, eventually selling 1376 copies. Dougall, born in Montreal, the grand daughter of John Redpath, was a feminist, novelist, spiritualist, and religious liberal. Her many books on theological subjects are scholarly and considered important. She may have been a lesbian but that is not an established fact. ; Octavo
