PEOPLE OF THE DEER. With Drawings by Samuel Bryant.

Boston: Little, Brown & Company, 1952. Blue-green cloth, spine gilt lettered. Green, red & brown on cream endpaper maps. viii, 344pp. Corner creases to a few leaves, near fine otherwise. Jacket has shallow chips to spine tips; large chips to upper inner corners of front & rear panels (triangular, about 1/2 inch on a side); two inch tear to rear panel; two inch tear to upper spine fold of front panel creased across top of front panel; good, with no lettering or illustration lost. This is a variant with a tipped in leaf on glossy paper before the title page stating "This edition is especially for the friends of the Petersen Engineering Co. of Santa Clara, California." In gilt on front cover is "Especially prepared for M.W. Stransky". We don't think this was actually specially printed - just a regular copy the the aforementioned additions. The author's UNCOMMON FIRST BOOK, an "account of two years spent with the Ihalmiut, an almost extinct Eskimo tribe of the Keewatin District.
