Edition: First Edition

London: Viking, 1988. Issue for Canada in the Canadian dust jacket. Bookplate to front free endpaper dated 21 April, 1989; small bruise to lower outer corner of front cover; else fine. Jacket has minute rubbing to spine tips; light rubbing to black rear panel and bookstore sticker to rear panel dated March 9, 1989; else fine. This copy is not in a supplied jacket. Some copies were issued in Canada like this, though this might have occured in the spring of 1989. There was a Canadian printing, in black boards, made from plates of the 7th UK printing, issued (I think) Jan. or Feb., 1989. The Canadian jacket is totally different from the UK jacket, following the American design, and is a tad shorter than the book. A curious and uncommon variant. The novel which put Rushie under a death threat from a major portion of the "religion of peace". The "satanic verses" are part of the history of the text of the Quran, not something Rushdie made up out of whole cloth. Note: 1.5 kg parcel, extra postage may be required.; Octavo
