Some spotting and sunning to the covers; Feb., 1858, ink presentation inscription at front; text paper lightly toned with scattered small soil spots; page edges tanned; good to VG generally. "Sixth thousand", same year as first. Miller was a distinguished surgeon and staunch temperance advocate. He was Professor of Surgery at the University of Edinburgh. His textbook Principles of Surgery was well regarded in the 19th century.
