Cloth chips to spine ends; partial cloth splits to rear joint; bit of wear to outer corners; light damp stain to preliminary and last few leaves; one inch horizontal repair to fore margin of title leaf (well away from any printing) neatly repaired on verso with clear archival paper tape; browning to page edges; occasional light foxing; else a VG tight and unworn copy, text block mostly unopened, inner hinges not cracked, no owner names. The British edition was published in five volumes between 1843 and 1860. The book is now protected with a plastic wrapper.
